Haleakala National Park

Many photos of Haleakala were shot during a 12 mile hike through the crater. The hike started at the 10,023 ft. summit, descended to the crater floor, crossed 4.5 miles of the crater to a low elevation of about 6,600 ft., then ascended out to a parking lot at 8,000 ft. Route followed the Sliding Sands Trail and the Halemau'u Trail.

Visit Haleakala National Park to view the route on a topographic map.
