Girl
Scouts Receive
American
Camping Association
Accreditation!
The ACA accreditation process is comprehensive and thorough.
Only 25 percent of day and resident camps across the country
attain ACA-accredited status. A team of camp professionals not
affiliated with the camp seeking accreditation review the camps
operations while in session at least every three years.
ACA accreditation is very important to our camp,
said Suzanne Smiley, GSWM executive director, Although
the program is voluntary, we owe it to our campers and parents
to have the best operation possible. ACA accreditation demonstrates
our commitment to quality camp programming where girls can discover
the fun, friendship, and power of girls together.
Our programs are rooted in the 90 year tradition and philosophy
of Girl Scouting and are based on the Girl Scout Promise and
Law. Emphasis is on quality experiences for all girls in a small
group setting. Programs include work toward, although are not
based exclusively on, Girl Scout recognitions.
