WESTFIELD, MA- Phantom Sheep, a comedy troupe based in Springfield Massachusetts returns to the Westfield Athenaeum Lang Auditorium to give local teens a truly unique experience with not only an afternoon full of laughs, but also how to create comedy themselves as they proudly present their popular “LaughCrafters: Comedy Improv” workshop for teens.

During the 2-hour comedy crash course, participants will have an introduction to improvisation and how it is used today to create theater and how it’s also a great skill to use in building teamwork, self-confidence, and quick thinking.  There will be a few warm-up exercises followed by games that are as much fun to play as they are to watch all in a very encouraging environment.  Students will get a chance to shine as they work alongside and “on stage” with the troupe member instructors themselves.

Troupe member Greg Seymour is scheduled to appear. “Our workshop is about encouraging quick thinking, confidence in the group, and how to find the funny off the top of your head,” Seymour says. “It’s so cool to see a person be amazed at their own talent that gets unleashed”.

Phantom Sheep is a professional comedy troupe with over 15 years of experience performing together and teaching workshops in improvisation, clowning, and even puppetry.  They have recently been seen at West Hartford’s Improvaganza, producing shows for Six Flags, and partnering with the Springfield JCC offering weekly classes to various age groups. Their LaughCrafters workshop edition has been a successful event at many high schools, colleges, summer camps, and libraries including working with the Westfield Athenaeum several times before.

The improv workshop is open to students who will be entering grades 6-12 this fall. Interested participants should contact a Young Adults librarian at (413)-562-6158 to reserve a spot.  For more information about the troupe, you can check out their website at
